About Buy One Give One Books – how does it work?

Year of Reading 2026

Buy a Book & GIFT One free…

Essentially Buy One, Give One Books allows us to operate as a kind of 2-4-1 scheme for some of the very best children’s books.

So, for more or less the same price as the book in a bookshop or online our authors are able to send you a copy for your child, AND donate a copy to one of our partner reading charities.

In this Year of Reading it is simply a Win-Win for everyone!

How does it work?

In a nutshell, it’s the generosity of our authors. When an author does school visits or events they often bring what we call “Author Copies”. These books are bought by the author from the publisher, essentially wholesale, just like bookshops.

If our authors sacrifice their commercial margin then we are able to offer TWO books for the around price of one at recommended retail price.

(It is usually a little more expensive because we have to account for banking fees, and postage and packaging.)

So, it’s a fabulous Win-Win. You and your child get a fantastic books and support great authors, AND you get to donate a book to a child who may never own one otherwise. It’s literally a magical gift!

We have partnered with some fantastic charities that share our mission to bring the joy of reading to more young people.

We want to give opportunities to children who are deprived of access to books.

There are far too many of these children in our society and it actually not only deprives them of that special joy – I bet you can remeber the feeling of being lost on a favourite book when you were a child – but it limits life choices for these children and studies bear this out.

In fact, by age 5, a child who reads and is read to daily will have heardhear nearly 300,000 more words than a child who is deprived of books and reading.

Fostering a culture of reading for pleasure enhances the lives of children, not just in the joy that reading brings, in and of itself.

Crucially, in the longer term, economic and academic acheievement is underpinned and enhanced too.

It’s a win-win all around. So – get involved.

We make it easy for you because each time you choose a fabulous book for your own child – bringing them joy, building their vocabulary, and feeding their mind – you also offer that same priceless gift to a deprived child.

Doesn’t that idea make you feel really good? We thought so!

So – let’s do some good together!

About Brian Frederick

Best Selling Author

My Story

Brian is a children’s book author. He aims to bring more joy into the world, for children (and for the adults who love them) so that they can live happier lives filled with more kindness.

Brian is a proponent of finding the goodness in life. He shares the value of that philosophy through children’s stories. In his books he hopes to entertain children and show them a world of kindness, joy and wonder.

Monday through Friday finds Brian as the lawyer at the helm of a commercial mediation services company. His work encourages solving disputes peacefully. This ideal carries over to the philosophy he shares in his children’s books. He is the founder and lead mediator at GetMediation, one of the UK’s leading commercial mediation companies, helping people to avoid the stress and expense of litigation and to simply get on with their lives free of conflict.

Brian’s new book Siggy Loves Sausages is a great example of this philosophy. In the book, Siggy the dachshund is an innocent, with the sweetest nature, just like a child. he wants to help people and finds that doing so brings him happiness.Brian began life in the legal world in litigation before realising he prefered to end conflicts rather than participate in fighting them.

Along the way, he also rediscovered his passion for writing and has a series of children’s book s coming out that he hopes will make the world a little better for his readers.Brian’s business has achieved several awards including Best Multi-Speciality Mediation Firm in England’s Prestige Business Awards. He writes for over 220,000 readers about his beloved Manchester United at The Utd Journal and his first children’s books are already garnering many rave reviews and awards. In fact, it looks like Siggy Loves Sausages will become an Amazon Kids Bestseller in the very near future.

Brian has built a strong Author Platform from nothing in the last two months and engages with the writing community on both Twitter, Tik Tok and Instagram often. Brian had just around 3,000 Twitter and Tik Tok followers, and 1,000 followers on Instagram (from a standing start just a couple of months ago) at the time of writing, and his following grows daily. Brian has been featured as a Top Ten Exciting New Author in De MODE Magazine, and given a double spread feature and interview for their 600,000 readers.

Asked about his philosophy of life as a writer, Brian said:

“I don’t know if stories for children can change the world, but I hope they can make it a little better – certainly for my readers.
I hope I can bring a little more joy into the world, and a little more truth and kindness.
I do care that these and other important things are often in short supply when they needn’t be. Maybe my readers and I can change that together…”

3 Things you might not know about Brian:

1. In a previous life, Brian made back page headlines in his home country as a record breaking swimmer. He was once dubbed “the hottest property in Irish Swimming” and some of his records stood for more than 30 years. He took several international caps representing Ireland abroad, before “extra-curricular” activities became more alluring in his late teens.
2. You Only Dine Twice… Brian has enjoyed both breakfast and dinner (twice) with both James Bond and Vanessa Redgrave…
3.The last thing Brian did before Lockdown was to have a Valentine’s Day pizza with an Oscar winner and his wife…

Siggy Love Sausages review:

What a sweet wee story for young children reinforcing the idea that being kind to someone is the most important thing you can do. Even if opportunities for yourself come up the important thing is to remain loyal and keep your promises, it will reward you all the better in the end.
The illustrations are beautiful and really captured and enchanted me throughout reading.
Siggy is a sweet little dog and I can see a wide series of Siggy’s adventures becoming hugely popular!
